In this issue we focus on three quite different Aquamax projects and an interesting project from the UK.
Hydrodemolition
We recently completed a concrete repair preparation project on a railway over bridge north of Kaikoura. Our client required a high pressure wash down and then careful removal of concrete across 30 repair sites on the bridge. We responded with our medium flow rate pump operating at 36,000 psi. The client was delighted with our highly controlled concrete removal process.
Marine Maintenance
The marine servicing sector is alive and well presenting many opportunities for ultra-high pressure water jetting. A good example is our work on the decks and pilot house of the Port of Napier’s tug, Ahiriri. The work was required to be completed afloat. The Aquamax water jetting process enabled this, delivering a well contained, dust free outcome. More details
Automotive Paint Stripping
Classic restoration and motorsport enthusiasts are using our process to remove paint and corrosion prior to repaint. Last month we completely stripped two rally cars in Christchurch. The owners were very pleased with the results which they felt were superior to sand blasting, leaving no residue or heating of the bodywork. More details
Historic Restoration
And finally, a quite different example from the UK. Water jetting is being used to restore the historic wrought iron gates at the Sovereigns Entrance, Houses of Parliament. Fine ornamental details on the gates have been lost under multiple layers of paint. The paint is being stripped using ultra-high pressure water jetting, taking the gates back to bare metal without damaging the historic surface finish.
